Saving/Restoring Math Pro database

Below procedure is used for restoring / taking backup of the application data (for ex. Results History for Math Pro) in HP TouchPad.

Manual Procedure:

The application database is stored in a sub-folder of the /media/internal folder on your webOS device. The folder is called .app-storage, and you can access it directly in USB mode. You can copy the database to your PC, and then restore it to the new device as follows:

Connect your TouchPad to the PC in USB mode. The .app-storage subfolder is hidden by default, but you can use Windows Explorer’s “view hidden files and folders” feature to see it.  The database will be in a directory called:
file_.media.cryptofs.apps.usr.palm.applications.com.petzapps.mathpro_0
In that directory will be a file with a name like:
0000000000000008.db
The actual numbers may vary, but there will be a .db file. That is your application data. Copy that file to your PC.
Once the profile is restored by Palm, you can install Math Pro (make sure it’s the same version that was on your old device). It will create a database in the same location (/media/internal/.app-storage/…
IMPORTANT: The new database may not have the same name. For instance instead of 0000000000000008.db, it might be 0000000000000022.db.
Rename the database from the OLD device to the database name that math Pro is using on the new device. Make sure the app is not running. Copy the renamed database onto the new device into the Math Pro database directory:
file_.media.cryptofs.apps.usr.palm.applications.com.petzapps.mathpro_0
When you next run math Pro, your Results History data should be visible.

Update on E-Notes

After the maintenance work done by Evernote on 04/04/2012 (http://status.evernote.com/), both E-Notes and Evernote app for webOS stopped working... so for the time being I suspended the app from App Catalog to stop new users from buying the app.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

E Notes for webOS: Help Topics

E Notes is an app for accessing Evernote account from webOS tablet. This post explains few functionalities included in the App.

Getting Your Unique Evernote E-mail ID:

Each Evernote account comes with an unique email address which can be used to add content to Evernote via email. Using Add by E-mail button, we can send an email which will create a new note in Evernote.

For getting the unique e-mail id, go to https://www.evernote.com/Settings.action from your browser and log into your account, you will be re-directed to the below page.

Them create a new contact in the Address Book called, “Evernote” and assign this email address to it. Now when we want to send a note to Evernote, simply send it to this new Evernote contact.

Learning E-mail Syntax:

Using Add by E-mail button, we can send an email which will create a new note in Evernote using the email subject as the note title, the email body as the note body and the source email address as the note author. After sending an e-mail click on Refresh button provided in the app, newly created note should show-up. If the note has multiple attachments, it will take some time.

  • Use @ for notebooks: Use an @ symbol followed by the name of your destination notebook
  • Use # for tags: Use a # symbol followed by the tag or tags you wish to assign. You can have multiple tags just make sure each one starts with an #

For example, Subject: Trip to Florida @travel #expense report

Would create a note titled Trip to Florida in my travel notebook, tagged with expense report.

Notes on this feature:

  • This functionality only works for existing notebooks and tags
  • At this time, you cannot create new notebooks or tags with this feature
  • In the subject line, always put the note title first, then add any notebooks or tags
  • This feature will not work for notebook names that contain an ‘@’ or a ‘#’, and it will not work for tags that contain a ‘#’ in their name.

Adding / Editing To-Do Notes:

While creating new note or editing a note, if we want to-do tasks, then for creating completed tasks use [x] or [X] and for creating incomplete tasks add [] in the Note editor content.
